Information on the 2008 World Cyber Games: The Asian Dynasties
Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties is one of fourteen games in this year's World Cyber Games (WCG). WCG is an international gaming competition that culminates in a Grand Final, in which players compete for their countries for big prizes and bragging rights, this year in Köln, Germany. Even if you don't have your sights set on the title Age of Empires champion, and few people really do, WCG is a lot of fun to participate in. WCG is a great chance to play the game we all love and meet the other gamers whom we play with every day. I participated last year, and I had so much fun that I'm here this year encouraging everyone to play.
This page will be your place for info on TAD and WCG. We'll be updating it when we have new information, and we'll help you register and play in WCG tournaments.

NEWS
If you live outside of the United States, most WCG tournaments won't be starting for a while. Many countries' WCG organizations haven't chosen the games that they will sponsor, and we will do our best to get you information so that you can lobby for TAD to be played in your country. Hang tight for more information.
If you live in the US, tournaments start in some places as early as April 14th! The qualification process is in three parts. First, a series of online events; next, regional tournaments at four LAN centers around the country; finally, a US Championship. You can start winning prizes at the regional tournaments and if you qualify for the US Championship, you get a free trip and lodging.
Last year, the US Championship was in the Universal Studios Resort in Orlando. At stake there is a trip to the Grand Final in Germany and prizes that last year were worth over $5000 for Age of Empires alone.
Sign Up To Play
It all gets started with the online qualifiers and registration is open now! Follow these steps to register:
#1 Find your region:
You'll want to qualify online for the region in which you'll be able to attend a LAN tournament, which will be held in the summer. For example, if you live or go to school in the South, but you'll be in the Atlantic during the summer, pick for the Atlantic region. If you won't be moving around, just stick with the region you're in right now. You can see a larger version of the map in this image.
#2 Sign up for your first event and register your account:
Once you've picked your region, it's time to sign up for an event. We actually recommend signing up for all three events, but we'll get to that later. First, pick the earliest event for your region that you'll be available for, and follow the instructions for registration.
You'll want to click the registration button, and not the date itself.
- You'll be taken to a page where Age3 has been selected. Click:
- If you didn't participate in the US WCG qualifiers last year, you'll be prompted to create an account for this site. We suggest making your account name something you can remember.
- When finished, click Continue.
- Finally, you'll see a page with registration fees. There are none! Click Finish Registration. You're done! An email will be sent to you confirming your place in the tournament.
- You should also have a spot for the tournament you just signed up for in the sidebar of the left hand of your page.
#3 Sign up for more events
We suggest that you sign up for all three events for your region. That way, if you don't qualify in your first tournament, you'll be signed up to play in the next one.
